Hi, I’m Becky, a thirty-something mum living in the UK, juggling family life, creativity, and a career in marketing and content writing. I genuinely love a good spreadsheet just as much as a well-crafted sentence, and Life in Velvet is where those two sides of my brain meet real life.
I’ve been blogging for over 13 years and now run a few different blogs. What started as a hobby has slowly become something much more embedded in how I think, plan, and create. Writing helps me make sense of everyday life, from routines and projects to the decisions we make along the way, and this space is where I share what I’ve learned.
At home, I live with my husband, our 3 brilliant kids, two mischievous dogs, and four very independent cats. Life is busy, full, and rarely quiet, which is probably why I’m drawn to systems, routines, and projects that help things run a little more smoothly. When I’m not working or managing the everyday logistics of family life, I’m usually planning something, making something, or cooking or baking something that may or may not turn out exactly as intended.
I’ve always been interested in how homes, routines, and creative projects can support real life rather than complicate it. From interiors and DIY to food, organisation, and thoughtful decision-making, I’m drawn to ideas that are practical, lived-in, and achievable. Not perfect, but intentional.
Life in Velvet is where I share that approach. Real experiences, planned creativity, and systems that help everyday life feel calmer and more considered. There are ideas here, lessons learned, and the occasional kitchen mishap, all shared honestly with a little creative flair.
Thanks so much for being here. I’m really glad you stopped by.
Becky
