Wayfair 2 seater sofa

My Honest Wayfair 2 Seater Sofa Review: Our Mustard Velvet Sofa

Posted on July 28, 2025July 30, 2025 By Becky

Wayfair 2 seater sofa

When we renovated the whole of the downstairs of our home nearly 4 years ago now, one of the rooms that we tackled was the living room. I’d been dreaming about a mustard velvet sofa for ages, so I was over the moon when I found one to add as a ‘pop’ of colour to the room (and to complement our new, William Morris wallpaper!): The Wayfair 2 Seater Sofa (Fabiola 2 seater loveseat). There’s something about the texture of velvet that just oozes comfort and character, and I was completely sold on the idea of this bold mustard yellow one.

Fast forward to now, and our mustard velvet two-seater from Wayfair is well and truly part of our living room. We’ve sat on it, napped on it, eaten countless meals balanced on our laps in front of the telly, spilled the odd drink (okay, more than odd). But has it held up like a champ?! I thought I would share my honest review, with the good, the maybe-not-perfect, and everything in between. Are Wayfair sofas worth your time and money? Read on to find out!

About the Sofa – the Deets!

The sofa I chose is the Fabiola 2‑Seater Loveseat, upholstered in rich mustard velvet and handmade in the UK by skilled upholsterers. The frame is apparently made using solid and manufactured wood, and this particular Wayfair 2 seater sofa measures approximately 150 cm wide, 99 cm deep, and 92 cm high with a seat height of 54 cm and a back height of 38 cm. It might be useful to know that it weighs around 48 kg (if you’re planning on lugging it around at all!). Design details include a streamlined silhouette with back cushions, recessed arms, and contrasting wooden or metal‑wheeled legs in a brown or gold finish, giving it a mid‑century flair. It comes with two matching cushions, and features sinuous spring seat construction and foam-filled cushions with water‑cleaning code (WW), meaning you should use water‑based agents only when spot-cleaning.

First Impressions of our Wayfair 2 seater sofa

I have to admit that I find buying furniture online nerve-wracking. You can’t touch the fabric, you can’t sit on it, and you’re relying on carefully staged photos and the occasional blurry customer review image. But we decided to gamble as I couldn’t see anything else that I liked that was velvet and this mustard colour in a physical store. We’d bought other items of furniture from Wayfair before, that were all okay and that were good quality, so we decided to go for it.

When the sofa arrived, I was really pleased. The mustard colour was exactly as I’d hoped: rich, bold, and warm without veering into anything too garish. Against our William Morris wallpaper, it looked fantastic, and we’ve had lots of complements from visitors about how it looks! It gives just the right amount of drama without taking over the space.

The velvet is soft and inviting, but not so plush that it feels too delicate or screams “don’t sit on me”. It has that nice sheen you want from velvet but it doesn’t mark every time someone dares to sit down in jeans.

Durability and Day-to-Day Use

We’ve had our mustard sofa for nearly 4 years now, and I can confidently say it’s not just a pretty face (or sofa!). One of my biggest fears was that it would look amazing but not be built for real life, but it turns out that it’s much sturdier than I expected.

We’re not a particularly gentle household! Between kids sprawling out with snacks, adults flopping down after a long day and over for socialising, it’s been well used. And it still looks fantastic. The frame is solid, and it hasn’t sagged or squeaked or done anything to suggest it’s struggling.

Even better, it’s been incredibly easy to clean. I’ve had a few moments of mild panic, with the worst being a whole glass of red wine that got knocked over during a particularly intense board game night, but it wiped up surprisingly well. I’ve also spot-cleaned various mystery smudges (thank you, kiddos) and muddy paw prints (thank you, cats) without any permanent marks.

Speaking of the cats, we should talk about pet friendliness!

A Pet-Friendly Velvet Sofa?

I was a bit worried about how velvet and our two cats would mix. Our grey cat, Daphne, is a bit of a PITA when it comes to scratching furniture, but thankfully she seems to have stayed away from this mostly, although she does like to lie across the top, back cushions!. I had fully expected her to claw her way through the corners or turn it into a permanent hair-matted throne.

Surprisingly, the velvet seems to hold up very well. She hasn’t scratched it once, and I think that might be down to the fabric not being as tempting as a rougher material. Also, the fact that the sofa has clean lines with no dangling tassels or buttons probably helps, making it more pet-friendly than many sofas.

Hair does get on the fabric (there’s no miracle solution there), but it brushes off easily with a sticky roller or a quick hoover. And despite the cats’ constant presence, there’s been no pilling, no snags, and no weird smells settling in.

If you’ve got a pet and/ or kids, and you’ve been put off velvet because you think it’s too delicate, I’d definitely say don’t rule it out. This one has overall been a really, really good buy!

The Pros

Things I’ve loved the most about this Wayfair 2 seater sofa:

1. It’s a Showstopper
That mustard colour is still one of my favourite choices in the whole house. It’s bold without being too trendy, and I genuinely think it will last us for a long time style-wise.

2. Comfortable for Two
It’s a true two-seater, snug but not squishy. It fits two adults comfortably, and one person can fully sprawl if desired!

3. Durable & Well-Made
For the price, I wasn’t expecting heirloom quality, but I’ve been really impressed by how solid and resilient it’s been.

4. Easy to Clean
Velvet and easy-clean don’t always go together, but this one proves you can have both. I’ve used a damp cloth for most marks, and the colour hasn’t faded or streaked.

5. Pet-Approved
The cats sleep on it daily, and it still looks great.

6. Works with Statement Décor
If you love a bold wallpaper (hi, fellow William Morris fans), this sofa will absolutely hold its own without looking over the top.

The Cons

Okay, let’s not pretend it’s perfect. There are a few things that might not work for everyone:

1. Not Ideal for Lounging
If you’re looking for a sofa to curl up on with a partner and a blanket for a Netflix binge, you might want something bigger.

2. Legs Needed a Bit of TLC
Ours arrived slightly scuffed on one of the legs, and I ended up giving it a gentle sand and oil. It wasn’t a dealbreaker, but something to be aware of if you’re picky about finishes.

3. Colour Shows Every Crumb
I mean, that’s not really a sofa problem, but more of a velvet problem. But yes, if you drop crisps, they will be seen.

Would I Buy It Again?

Honestly? Yes, I would.

I feel like we’ve definitely had our money’s worth and then some. Our mustard velvet sofa is stylish, it fits perfectly in our space, and it’s managed to survive the chaos of our home with minimal complaint! Thumbs up from us!
