Guest Room Reveal

Guest Room Reveal - Life in Velvet-7

You’ve seen sneak peeks of my Be My Guest wire sculpture and white and wood makeover. I’m so excited to share our (finally) completed cozy guest room. It took me forever to finish the last little details, but I really love how everything turned out. I’m especially proud because the dresser, nightstands and headboard were thrift store makeovers, allowing me to pull this room together very inexpensively.

I wanted this space to feel very comfortable, clean and uncluttered. I started out with a neutral palate of tan, warm blue and white, and added small pops of bright gold to make everything feel more updated and peppy. I never used to like any variation of yellow or gold in my home, but I have a major love affair going on at the moment.

Guest Room Reveal - Life in Velvet-11I think either live or fresh cut flowers are a really nice and easy touch to make your guest room feel welcoming. This orchid was given to us by my lovely sister-in-law Diana as a housewarming gift, and I’m so thrilled that I have kept it alive all this time, so I have to show it off.

This artwork was basically free. (And you may think to yourself that it looks that way…but I like it.) I just used some watercolours and Delicate Surface Frog Tape to create these. I couldn’t seem to find anything with the look and colours I wanted, so wall art turned into just one more DIY for this room.

I have quite the story behind this headboard. I’ll share the history and how we made it in the next couple of weeks.

When our A/C upstairs broke a couple of months ago, I had the opportunity to spend a couple of nights in this room, and I can testify that it is very comfortable. We hope to have lots of visitors!
