These lovely little embellished ponies are simple, elegant, and you will have a blast shopping for baubles for this project!
Supplies needed for your Embellished Ponies:
- 5/8″ Fold over elastic (I got mine at Hancock Fabrics for $3)
- Embellishments (I used beads and charms from Hobby Lobby)
- 1 pack of head pins (Available at any craft store in the jewelry aisle. These look like a pin with a wide flat end, and are used to attach beads)
- Clear nail polish or other seam sealer to prevent elastic ends from fraying
- Pliers
- Wire cutter
Begin by cutting the strips of elastic to about 8”. You will then begin to slide your embellishments in about an inch and a half.
To attach beads, thread each bead through a head pin and form a loop with your pliers. Attach this loop to your other embellishments by inserting the loop and then wrapping it around the pin to close the opening.
Once you have attached all of the beads and charms you want, start to form the knot. Hold the two ends together, making sure your beads are on the outside of the initial wrap for the knot. Then wrap the ends with the beads around your finger and tie a knot. The loop holding the beads should be in the middle of the knot.

Trim any frayed edges. Optional – to seal the edges and prevent later fraying, run a tiny line of clear nail polish along the edges.
Here are some more pictures of the steps to make another version.
I just loved this wishbone on one of the real Anthro ponies, and I was so excited to find something very similar at Hobby Lobby for about $2.
With summer humidity quickly approaching, I will constantly have my hair up. I’m so excited to have some fun and subtle ways to dress up my look with these fancy ponies!
