DIY advent calendar

DIY Advent Calendar

Advent calendar numbers

I don’t mean to rush the season, but I got really excited to make a DIY advent calendar. I know we haven’t even had Thanksgiving yet, but I’m already feeling a little Christmas-y. While this isn’t the quickest project to make, it’s easily constructed with just some basic craft supplies, and it’s one of the most fun projects I’ve made in awhile. I couldn’t help but smile while I stuffed each tiny envelope with a different surprise.

Materials for your DIY Advent Calendar:

11×14 frame or larger
12×12 adhesive cork sheets (available in the scrapbook aisle)
Hot glue gun
Mini clothespins or clips
Mini envelopes and cards
Numbers
Treats to stuff into the envelopes
Easel for frame

Cork and clothespins

Start by removing the glass from your frame. Cut the cork sheets to fit and stick them to the frame backing. Next, space your clips or clothespins evenly and hot glue them to the cork.

Attach numbers to the envelopes. I printed mine onto cardstock and cut them with an oval shaped punch. You could also use stickers, rub on numbers, or stencils and paint. Stamping the envelopes before attaching the numbers is also an option. Mine looked a little plain, so I stamped them with a couple of different holiday stamps and silver ink.

Enjoy! I would love to see your advent calendar ideas!
